| RESCUE OPERATION |

- Please give your contact info. (name and number)
- Give EXPLICIT direction to site ( extremely important as most calls come in at dusk, making site identification most difficult)
- Stay with the animal until help arrives
- Keep others (people, children, animals) AWAY from the injured animal
- Secure animal in location (off the roadway, etc.)
- welder's gloves (or other heavy gloves) - protection while handling animal
- blanket or towel to place animal on if needed to move to a more secure location until help arrives
- animal carrier / kennel - to contain or transport injured animal
- Electrocution: animal on electric line, transformer or below on ground (do NOT attempt to rescue animal when animal is on electric line or transformer as you will be shocked as well!
- attack from another animal
- abandonment
- side of roadways (vehicular strike)
- non-domesticated house pet
- Injured animals are in shock and very afraid / defensive - could be aggressive and bite -
be cautious!
- report rescue to Brenda - if not there, contact Vicki
- report to rescue site & wear safety apparel - welder's gloves, long pants, shoes or boots, etc.
- utilize towel or blanket to capture
- be firm and "push down" to ground, gently - gather in blanket and rapidly put in kennel - don't hesitate! Be quick! Kennel must be in upright position (door on top - easier to "drop" them in)
- Do not attempt to transport injured or unconscious animals in a backpack - you must have a kennel / container / or strong box." and "Do not keep any animal overnight or for any extended period of time as they are in a very fragile condition that will determine life or death". and "Babies are very cute at this stage - however, they are extremely fragile, scared and need 24 /7 care and proper socialization.- They cannot be kept as pets as you will be doing a disservice and they will surely die."
