 PROSPECTIVE PROPERTY / HOMEOWNERS

Bienvenidos ~ Welcome to one of the most beautiful locations on Earth. Many people “fall in love” with Nosara not only for it’s warm year round climate and waters, but because you are now surrounded by some of the most diverse flora and fauna in the world. Sights and sounds of NATURE permeate the jungle. How exceptionally special and rare!

Monkey in elecric lineWe at Refugio Animales de Nosara & SIBU Sanctuary would like to share this important message with you. As you become property owners and caretakers of this natural habitat, we ask that you make very conscious decisions for the environment as you build and develop.

Please consider keeping as many trees as possible. All trees provide homes, food sources and foraging pathways through the canopy for many animals as well as providing shade and preventing soil erosion during the rainy season. When trees are cut severe consequences occur. Animals are forced to the ground in order to cross over to the next canopy to look for food, placing them in great danger from cars and roaming dogs. Eventually, they leave our beautiful area in search of denser jungle. Preserve our wildlife by thoughtful planning and by planting fruit trees and flowering trees such as almendro, balsa, papaya and Cortez Amarillo.

Monkey in elecric lineConstruction of new homes and businesses require electric installation. Insulate all lines or bury underground. Ask ICE (Costa Rica Electric Institute) to install insulator protectors around transformer leads and guide wires to prevent monkeys and other wildlife from climbing up them and being electrocuted. Have all branches and limbs professionally cut away from transformers and power lines. Please build responsibly as you will make the biggest contribution in saving lives and preventing horrific suffering.

Monkey in elecric lineRefugio Animales de Nosara & SIBU Sanctuary were created out of need to rescue, provide immediate care and sanctuary to wildlife, orphaned, injured, or displaced by natural causes or by human encroachment into their natural habitat. Hundreds of monkeys and other wildlife have been electrocuted and have suffered unimaginable deaths due to uninsulated power lines. Please help reverse this!
